Child & Adolescent (C&A) Therapy
Overview
In Child & Adolescent Therapy, our clinic will opt for the traditional form of therapy, known as talk therapy. This offers a safe space for children to confidently express themselves, without hesitation.
Evidence-based treatment modalities such as, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) are used during this treatment.
Our dynamic team of psychologists will proceed to work with families, and children; to help them work through a plethora of different issues that are both mental, and emotional in nature.
We employ a wide variety of techniques and therapies, which are non – medical; allowing you to deal with inner conflicts, and be able to cope with grief, and stress in a more controlled manner. We help you get your power back.
Who Needs It?
The child & adolescent therapy can help come to terms with a number of different issues;
- Acceptance; as in, truly being able to come to terms with a physical or learning disability
- Adjustment, which could include reactions to certain events
- Anger
- Anxiety
- Attention problems
- Bereavement and grief
- Depression
- Eating disorders
Child & Adolescent Therapy Process
Our first session revolves mostly around the caregivers/parents, without the child. This session helps us gather information which helps us go the extra mile to assess, diagnose, and treat your child or teen.
During the second session, both the parents and the child join the therapist for the initial 15 minutes, after which the parents are asked to leave, and wait in the reception. Our therapist then goes on to deliver the therapy most suited to your child.
Parental and family involvement is central to any treatment programme, and we encourage all parents to attend our Conscious Parent lecture series with Dr. Shahid.
